And this is why people didn't take posts about crime being out of control seriously...like when you reported crime was up b/c of was it 4? more killings year-to-date than before.

The variations don't matter...especially when crime's at a HISTORIC low!

I am very thankful to be protected by the LAPD, and I respect every officer who lays his/her head on the line every day in order to achieve a safer, more livable community for all of us. I especially applaud Chief Bratton...he is “la creme de la creme”. However, it's unfortunate that the LAPD is still not equipped/staffed up enough to deal with kidnappings. Recently, my very dear friend's 10-yr old son and his two male cousins, 8 and 12, went missing...taken by the boys' two criminal fathers. Even though this case involves three boys and two wanted men, my friend still cannot get any action from the police because there are likely thousands of other kidnapping cases that are ahead of hers. I hope that young people will read/hear about the successes of the LAPD and will be encouraged to join in order to build the force to a level where people, like my friend, do not have to feel so helpless and demoralized when they attempt to engage the assistance of the police to recover their missing children.

Is crime really down, or is it just the number of reports that are down?

I have a hard time believing I am the only who tried to file a report, only to receive resistance and an attempt to talk me out of filing the report in this fair City.

Luckily for me, it is not up to the desk officer to determine whether or not a crime has been committed, and when I pointed this out I received all the assistance I needed in filing the complaint.

Based on the DA's follow up contact, it appeared to me that a crime had in fact occurred, although the likelihood of the system doing anything about it seemed closer to "none" than "slim."

Lauren Black was my brother - He was hit my a motorcycle. It is just unbelievable to me that this could happen. If any one knows anything please respond by calling the authorities.
