|Sylmar: On August 22, 2014, around 7:30 p.m., a double fatality injury traffic collision occurred near the intersection of San Fernando Road and Sunshine Canyon in the Sylmar area of the San Fernando Valley.
The victims were passengers in a black 2005 Nissan 300Z traveling southbound San Fernando Road, when the vehicle they were riding in lost control and swerved into the northbound lanes of San Fernando Road. The passengers in the vehicle sustained major injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Eldridge Salguero, an 18-year-old resident of Van Nuys, sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. The names of the victims were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The other driver, identified as Suh Min Kyung, a 44-year-old resident of Castaic, was traveling northbound San Fernando Road when her vehicle, a silver 2013 Honda Odyssey van, was struck by the Nissan. An 11-year-old child was a passenger in the van at the time of the collision. The driver of the Honda and the child sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.
