Commissioner President Matt Johnson opened the meeting and a quorum was established. The meeting proceeded to the Consent Agenda Items, all of which (1A through 1K) were approved with no discussion. All Regular Agenda Items (2A through 2C) were approved.
Chief Charlie Beck reported attending the Major Cities Chiefs mid-year conference in Washington, D.C. last week. Chief Beck mainly attended this mid-year conference for their speakers, United States President Donald Trump and Department of Homeland Security, General John F. Kelly. On Sunday, February 12, 2017, more than 900 Los Angeles Police Department personnel and their family members participated in the Run to Remember LA, half marathon and 10K run from The Grove through Paramount Studios. More than 6,000 participants from various police departments around the nation supported this fundraiser over the weekend.
Currently there are 9,944 sworn officers, 2,785 civilians, 400 reserves and 8,411 cadet’s in the Department.
