Shooting Leaves one Man dead in Hollywood

On February 15, 2018 around 3:25 p.m., the FBI and LAPD Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 39-year-old Gregory Baranovsky, a Los Angeles resident near the 3000 block of Temple Street.  

Investigators believe Baranovsky was committing a burglary when he shot and killed the victim who was working as a maintenance worker at the apartment complex.  

Baranovsky was booked for 187(a) PC-Murder, and is being held without bail. The case will be presented to the District Attorney for filing consideration on Monday.




Hollywood:  The Los Angeles Police Department West Bureau Homicide Detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of 37-year-old Yuvini Cortez.

On February 12, 2018, around 2:30 p.m., Hollywood area patrol officers responded to a radio call of a “Shooting Just Occurred,” in the 2000 block of Argyle Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Cortez suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Detectives investigation revealed, Cortez was working inside the location when the suspect entered the location and shot Cortez once in the torso.  The suspect left the scene on foot.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced Cortez at scene.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic, around 30-years-old, wearing a blue jacket and brown pants.
