Motorcyclist Killed in Solo Crash

Notes from the August 9, 2011 Weekly Police Commission Meeting

•    Police Commission President John Mack attended the National Night Out event at Hollenbeck Division last week and said he was very impressed with the amount of young people at the event.

•    Police Commission Vice President Alan Skobin attended the roll-call at the Valley Communications Center and was impressed with how much work is done by a relatively small staff.  Commissioner Skobin also attended National Night Out festivities at Devonshire and Mission Area Divisions.  He concluded by saying he sat on the interview board which is interviewing for Fire Chief.

•    Police Commissioner Richard Drooyan attended a meeting with Assistant Chief Earl Paysinger and Deputy Chief Patrick Gannon regarding Community Policing.  He said he was very impressed with Community Policing within South Bureau.

•    Assistant Chief Michael Moore informed the Board Chief Beck authorized the wearing of the mourning badge in honor of San Diego Police Officer Jeremy Henwood who was killed in the line of duty over the weekend. 

•    The Department’s report, dated July 25, 2011, relative to Transportation Committee report, regarding City vehicles parking alongside red curbs – Council file number 11-0276, was approved and transmitted to the City Council.

•    The Department’s report, dated July 29, 2011, relative to Narcotics Enforcement detail – Narcotics report, (form 03.19.00) Inspection (IAID No. 11-050), was approved.

•    The Department’s report, dated July 25, 2011, relative to 2011 quarterly categorical use of force statistics, was approved.

•    The Department’s report, dated August 2, 2011, relative to destruction of obsolete duplicate records, was approved and transmitted to the City Clerk, Records Management Officer.

•    The Department’s report, dated June 30, 2011, relative to the sexual orientation non-discrimination inspection (IAID No. 11-060, was approved.

•    The Department’s report, dated June 29, 2011, relative to the Department-wide training content inspection, as given by Sergeant Keith Gordon, was approved.  Sergeant Gordon stated he looked at all Department training provided regarding police integrity topics and said the Department was doing very well in this area and scored a 98%.
