Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department, Force Investigation Division (FID) is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred at 102nd Street and Main Street.

On February 2, 2013, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Southeast officers responded to a radio call of a man with a gun. When the officers arrived at the location, they were met by the suspect who ran from them and a foot pursuit ensued.

Officers quickly established a perimeter and began to search for the suspect.  During the search, the suspect came out from an unknown area and pointed a gun at the officers, at which point an officer involved shooting occurred.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Sergio Pena, was treated and taken to a local hospital.  Pena is a parolee at large and was arrested and booked for 3056 P.C. Parole Violation.

The investigation will ultimately be reviewed by the Chief of Police, Office of the Inspector General, and The Board of Police Commissioners for compliance with the Department’s use-of-force policy which states that an officer’s use-of-force actions must be objectively reasonable.  Additionally, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division will conduct a comprehensive review of the facts of the officer-involved shooting.

This guy was a naval officer and is near the ocean. Having been in the navy myself i would bet he has got himself a boat and headed out to sea. He was awarded the sea service ribbon and probably has navigation and sea handling knowledge as an officer he would have had to stood as officer of the deck underway so he would know his beans. like i said my bet is he's on a boat already at sea or looking to get his hands on one. So he's out in the ocean or even maybe headed to the great lakes. The navy should be looking out for him as well as the coast guard.

What would happen If a citizen shot at them ladies and not the police?

Charlie Beck needs to step down....

No exuse for shooting at the 2 cars

SO Why aren't these officers charged with attempted murder????

Lapd, it is difficult for you to see, but you need to take a good look at yourself. This reminds me of the egg and the chicken or Isreal and Fata/Hezbollah/Hamas. Mistreatment of others causes anamosity. How can some that was involved in the Rodney KIng Beating is still on the force. And this guy was fired for what he wittnessed (wierd). If there is a look back into the case of him being fired, it should not be done by the LAPD, police can never police itself, that is dumb and bias. If it is serious you need an independent party, the public is not buying it.

I am appalled by the behavior of this police department. Even in Iraq we couldn't go around shooting people because we were afraid. The police officers involved in this are potentially criminals, and criminal charges should be brought against them guilty or not. The conduct and orders given by their superior officers should also be investigated. If this does not happen I will have lost all faith in the United States of America. Also I'm not entirely sure why you need my name and email address in order for me to post here. Now that you have perhaps you could send me an email that explains it.

The firing was vindicated by his showing the wicked kind of person he really is. If LAPD is so racist, why did they hire him in the first place? Now, he is just charred remains, but some poor fools will turn him into a hero. Pathetic. He was just another Black street thug.
He probably set fires in the Rodney King Riots.

America does not deserve you. Move back to ???
