Story Time at Hollenbeck Reads Program

On June 20, 2015, neighborhood children gathered for the launch of Hollenbeck Division’s Hollenbeck Reads Program, a monthly story-telling event for tots that promotes interaction between the children and LAPD officers and cadets.

Hollenbeck Read- 1The one-hour event, held the third Saturday of every month at 9:30 a.m., takes place utilizing books in the station’s Little Free Library which opened about a year ago. Readers include Hollenbeck officers, foot beat officers, cadets and team members from the division’s Teen Community Police Advisory Board (TCPAB).

“Today was a big success, and we’re hoping this program will bring another level of engagement to the community,” said Hollenbeck Area Captain and Commanding Officer Martin Baeza.

TCPAB members organize the event and conduct outreach to encourage community participation through Hollenbeck Read- 2 social media alerts and distributions of flyers at community events, organizations and schools. Information is also available by calling the Hollenbeck Community Relations Office at (323) 342-4130/4140. The Hollenbeck Station is located at 2111 E. First Street, Los Angeles 90033.
