Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision

UPDATE
On November 1, 2017, around 10:45 a.m., 41-year-old Shauntrell Darnell Mathews, a Los Angeles resident went to 77th Station and turned himself in. He was placed under arrest for Hit and Run Felony and booked at the 77th Division Jail.

 

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's South Traffic detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a hit and run collision that killed a pedestrian.

On October 29, 2017, around 6:15 p.m., 76-year-old Herman Charles Avery Jr., an Inglewood resident was crossing Western Avenue, heading West when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of a vehicle failed to stop and identify himself or render aid to the victim, as required by law. The suspect drove away from the scene to Western Avenue and 82nd and abandoned his vehicle, the suspect had a 7 to 9-year-old boy, Black. The suspect is described as a male Black, 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall, medium built, wearing dark clothing.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to render medical aid; however, Mr. Avery succumbed to his injuries at scene.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

19-Year-Old Shot Dead

 

Wilmington: The Los Angeles Police Department's Harbor Area Homicide detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the death of a 19-year-old male.

On October 28, 2017 around 1:45 a.m., a 19-year-old male was attending a party in the 1100 block of West Cruces Street in the city of Wilmington. The 19-year-old stepped outside to meet with friends when unknown suspects walked up to him and fired multiple rounds, he was struck by gunfire.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to render medical aid; however, he succumbed to his injuries at scene.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin. There is no suspect description and detectives have no leads.

Shooting Leaves One Dead

 

Van Nuys: The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect's responsible for the death of a man in his twenties.

On October 28, 2017 around 1:00 a.m., Van Nuys Area patrol officers responded to a call of shots fired on the 15400 block of Valerio Street. When officers arrived, they found a male suffering from gunshot wounds.
The investigation revealed that the victim was speaking with the suspect's when one suspect produced a handgun, shot the victim and both suspects fled the scene on foot. The victim was struck by gunfire and was pronounced dead at scene.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

Armed Robbery Suspects Caught on Video

 

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Newton Area are seeking the public's assistance in identifying three violent robbery suspects.

On Friday, October 20, 2017, around 7:05 a.m., a takeover robbery occurred at a commercial business located in the 3300 block of Central Avenue. Three armed suspects entered the business and tied up the employee. The suspects ransacked the office and removed money. During the robbery, the suspects physically assaulted the employee. The suspects fled in a 2017 black Ford Explorer with paper plates.

The first suspect is described as a 40-year-old male Black with brown eyes. He stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He was wearing a black leather jacket, black jeans, and black shoes.

The second suspect is described as a 40-year-old male Black with brown eyes. He stands 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt, black pants, and grey shoes.

The third suspect is described as a male. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, blue shirt, and black shoes

Sexual Assault Suspect On the Prowl In Van Nuys NR17318sr

Van Nuys: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Area are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a sexual assault suspect.

On October 26, 2017, around 6:07 a.m., the victim was jogging southbound Fulton Avenue towards Hatteras Street. The suspect approached the victim from behind and sexually battered her. The victim struggled with the suspect to break-free from his control. The suspect then attempted to pull her to the ground. The victim kicked and elbowed the suspect. The suspect released his grip and fled northbound Fulton Avenue and then eastbound Oxnard Street. The victim followed the suspect for approximately 20 feet while calling 911. The victim eventually lost sight of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a male hispanic, he stands about 5 feet 5 inches tall, thin built, goatee, and is approximately 25-30 years of age. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie and black workout pants.

Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

North Hollywood: On October 25, 2017, Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Juvenile Division, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and Investigators from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Child Exploitation Investigations Group (CEIG), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Bruce Douglas Paddock, 59 years old, of North Hollywood, for violation of 311.11(A) Penal Code, Possession of Child Pornography.

The investigation of Paddock was initiated after evidence was discovered inside a business located in the 9000 block of San Fernando Road in Sun Valley. Paddock had been squatting inside the business and after his eviction, the evidence was discovered.

At the time of the initial investigation Paddock was a transient and could not be located. Paddock was recently located in the 5300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in North Hollywood.

Bruce Douglas Paddock

Detectives have provided a photo of Bruce Douglas Paddock in case there may be victims of unreported incidents and they are asking for the public's assistance in locating them.

The investigation was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office filed 1-count of California Penal Code Section 311.11(c) (1), possession of over 600 images of child pornography, and 19-counts of California Penal Code Section 311.3(A), sexual exploitation of a child.

Paddock was booked and is being held at the Los Angeles Police Department's Metropolitan Detention Center. Paddock's bail is set at $60,000.00.

The LAPD is the principal agency for the Los Angeles Regional Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, with 74 Federal, State and Local affiliate law enforcement agencies that detect and investigate child predators that use the Internet as a means to contact children for the purposes of sexual exploitation or deal in child pornography.

Missing 19-Year-Old Man

Los Angeles: The family of Roy Catching Jr. and the Los Angeles Police Department's Missing Persons Unit are asking for the public's help in locating him.

Roy was last seen on October 14, 2017, in the 6500 block of 4th Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. Roy has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old and his family is extremely concerned for his safety.

Roy is described as a male Black with black hair and brown eyes. He stands 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. There is no clothing description.

Shooting Leaves a Female Dead

 

Reseda: The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the death of a woman.
On October 21, 2017 around 11:00 a.m., West Valley Area patrol officers responded to a call of shots fired on the 19500 block of Enadia Way. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation revealed that the victim was seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle at the intersection of Sherman Way and Calvin Street when the suspect(s) approached the vehicle on foot and began to fire rounds, striking the victim.
The victim's name is being withheld pending notification to their next of kin.

Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision

 

Sylmar: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a hit and run collision that killed a pedestrian.

On October 6, 2017, around 11:40 p.m., 26-year-old San Fernando resident Wilber Hernandez was walking across Gladstone Avenue, south of Bledsoe Street.The driver of a vehicle, described as a black BMW, struck Hernandez and fled the scene without identifying themselves, and did not render aid to the victim as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Hernandez to a local hospital. On October 19, 2017, Hernandez died from the severe injuries he sustained in the traffic collision.

Sexual Assault Fugitives Captured in Florida

Los Angeles: On May 4, 2000, the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide Division opened an investigation into a sexual assault involving a 16-year-old female student.

The sexual assault was discovered when students attending a school camping trip noticed that another student had slept in the same room with two adults. The victim told several students that she was sexually involved with both adults. The suspects were identified as 43-year-old Channel Nicola Warren of Los Angeles, and 52-year-old Joseph Horace Green of Lancaster, California. Green is a registered sex offender. Felony sexual assault warrants were issued for both suspects.

On September 24, 2017, the case was featured on CNN's Original Series "The Hunt with John Walsh: School of Lies." Shortly thereafter, investigators discovered that the suspects had taken up residency in Florida under false names.

On October 18, 2017, both suspects were arrested in Plantation, Florida, by FBI South Florida Fugitive and Violent Crimes Task Force and LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division Detectives. Both Warren and Green are awaiting extradition to Los Angeles, California.
