Fatal Hit & Run Traffic Collision NR18289ml

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a hit and run collision.

On Saturday, November 10, 2018, at about 1:05 a.m., a fatal traffic collision, vehicle versus pedestrian, occurred on Virgil Avenue and 1st Street.

An unidentified vehicle traveling southbound on Virgil Avenue collided with a pedestrian, running southbound Virgil Avenue, outside of the marked cross walk.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department responded. The pedestrian did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at scene.

The hit and run driver did not stop or render aid to the pedestrian as required by law.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

In addition, the pedestrian has not been identified.

The investigation is on-going and no further details are available at this moment.
