Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's Major Crime Division detectives are releasing the arrestee information of the person responsible for an Assault with Deadly Weapon with a Vehicle which included a hate crime enhancement.

On November 23, 2018 at 9:35 p.m.,Mohamed Mohamed Abdi, was arrested for ADW with a Vehicle. He was booked on Saturday morning, November 24, 2018 at 3:50 a.m. and bail was set for $55,000.00. Abdi is a male, Black, 32 years old, black hair, brown eyes, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 180 pounds.

Double Homicide in Westchester

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's West Bureau Homicide Unit is investigating a fire that left two unidentified victims dead in Westchester.

On Saturday, November 17, 2018 around 9:04 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a structure fire at an apartment building in the 8600 block of Belford Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they observed citizens attempting to put out the fire from outside of the apartment. LAFD made entry and found two victims. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. There was evidence suggesting that both victims suffered gunshot wounds, and this case is being investigated as an Arson-Homicide.

High School Teacher Arrested NR18294rh

 

Van Nuys: The Los Angeles Police Department's Sexually Exploited Child Unit (SECU), Juvenile Division, has been involved in an investigation involving Scott Silva, a teacher at Birmingham Community Charter High School, in the city of Van Nuys.

SECU Detectives assumed investigative responsibility on November 1, 2018, after receiving a Suspected Child Abuse Report (SCAR) alleging inappropriate conduct by Mr. Silva.

On November 16, 2018, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office filed multiple counts of Sexual Battery and Child Annoyance, and a warrant in the amount of $400,000 was issued for Silva's arrest. Mr. Silva was subsequently taken into custody, without incident.

Pacoima: The family of Jasmine Anguiano and the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division are asking for the public's assistance in locating her.

On November 18, 2018, around 12:45 p.m., Jasmine was last seen near the 12700 block of Judd Street, in the City of Pacoima.

Jasmine is described as a 16-year-old female Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes. She stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs around 100 pounds. Jasmine was wearing a black shirt and black overalls. Jasmine suffers from depression and anxiety. Jasmine has not been seen or heard from since and her family is concerned for her safety.

Officer-Involved-Shooting in Harbor Division

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department's understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved-Shooting (OIS) that occurred in the Harbor Gateway area on Sunday night.

On Sunday, November 11, 2018, around 10:25 p.m., Metropolitan Division officers were traveling south on Halldale Avenue, near the Normandale Recreation Center. They heard possible gunfire in the area and drove up the apron of a driveway that led to the south parking lot of the recreation center. The officers observed two male Hispanic suspects walk from around a gymnasium building in their direction. At least one round fired by the suspects struck the police vehicle. Both officers exited and returned fire from behind their respective doors. One suspect was struck by gunfire and was taken into custody without incident. His weapon was recovered at scene. The second suspect fled the area and is still outstanding. It is unknown if the outstanding suspect was struck by gunfire. The suspect was booked for Attempted Murder of a Police Officer.

The gunshots originally heard by the officers were later determined to be related to an Assault With a Deadly Weapon (ADW) shooting that occurred on the opposite side of the gymnasium building. The two suspects allegedly approached a male and female Hispanic and fired several rounds in their direction. The female victim was struck in the lower leg and was transported to a local hospital.

Neither officer was injured during the incident.

Investigative efforts to identify the outstanding suspect are still ongoing and are being conducted by the Force Investigation Division Criminal Apprehension Team

LAPD's specialized Force Investigation Division (FID) responded to the scene and began interviewing witnesses and collecting forensic evidence. A representative from the Office of the Inspector General responded and monitored the crime scene investigation.

The complete investigation will be reviewed by the Chief of Police and the Board of Police Commissioners and the Office of the Inspector General to determine the thoroughness and accuracy of the investigation and whether the use of deadly force complied with LAPD's policies and procedures. Additionally, representatives from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office who responded to the scene will review the subsequent FID investigation; evidence collected and witness statements to determine if the force used by the officers(s) was reasonable.

Suspect Sexually Assaults Victim While She Slept

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide Division is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a brazen sexual assault suspect.

On November 4, 2018, around 5:00 a.m., the victim was asleep in her apartment located in the 1800 block of Sunset Boulevard. The suspect utilized the fire escape to access the victim's bedroom window. The suspect then pried the window open, entered the bedroom and sexually assaulted the victim. The victim woke up and pushed the suspect away. After the assault, the suspect exited through the front door.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, black hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 5inches tall, 150 pounds, and is between 19-25 years of age with a clean shave. He was wearing a green jacket with an unknown logo on the front, dark pants, and black Adidas shoes.

Arrest Announcement of Michael Avenatti

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department West Los Angeles Detectives have arrested Mr. Michael Avenatti

On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at 2:05 p.m., Michael Avenatti, 47-year-old resident of Los Angeles was placed under arrest, Booking # 5473086, for 273. 5 (a) PC Intimate Partner Violence at the 10000 block of Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Avenatti was booked for the above-mentioned charge on November 14, 2018, at 3:44 p.m., with bail amount set for $50,000.00

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for prosecution.

Robbery Suspects Wanted

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division detectives are seeking the public's assistance to identify five suspects who committed an armed robbery.

On September 21, 2018, around 2:30 a.m., Van Nuys officers responded to a robbery call near the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Van Nuys Boulevard. Five suspects left a local restaurant, walking past the victim as they exited. Three of the suspects returned, wearing hooded sweatshirts and approached the victim who was still inside the restaurant.

One suspect pointed a handgun at the victim while the second and third suspects removed the victim's property. After taking the victim's property, the three suspects entered a 2012-2014 white four-door Mercedes-Benz C-Class, driven by the fourth suspect, and fled the scene.

The fifth suspect was in a 2013-2017 white Infiniti QX70 (SUV), which was parked across the street from the awaiting white Mercedes-Benz during the robbery.

After the three suspects fled the scene in the white Mercedes-Benz, the white Infiniti SUV also fled the scene behind the white Mercedes-Benz.

The suspects are five male Blacks, 20-25 years-of-age.

Missing 67-Year-Old Male NR18284gk

Los Angeles: The family of Gabriel Portillocampos and the Los Angeles Police Department's Missing Person's Unit are asking for the public's assistance in locating him.

On November 5, 2018, around 4:30 p.m., Gabriel was last seen at the bus stop at Martin Luther King Boulevard & Woodlawn Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. Gabriel Portillocampos is described as a 67-year-old male Hispanic with gray hair and brown eyes. He stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He was wearing an orange T-shirt, blue jeans, and what is described as a black Panama hat. Man Beaten and Left for Dead

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department West Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects responsible for killing a man.

On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, around 9:10 p.m., Hollywood Division patrol officers responded to a radio call of an "Assault with a Deadly Weapon" in the 1000 block of North Serrano Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were directed to an unresponsive male adult victim on the rooftop of an apartment building.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene. The death was caused by blunt force trauma.

Three male Hispanics, all wearing dark pants and no shirts, were seen walking away from the scene, south on Serrano Avenue.

The victim's name is being withheld, pending notification to next of kin.
