Van Nuys: The family of Carla Ettima and the Los Angeles Police Department Van Nuys Area are asking for the public's help to locate Mrs. Ettima.

On December 26, 2018, around 8 p.m., Carla Ettima was last seen after she was released from a local hospital in the 15100 block of Vanowen Street. Her family is extremely concerned since she suffers from numerous medical conditions, requiring frequent treatment and medications.

Ettima is described as a 58-year-old, female, black, stands 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 110 pounds, thin build, light complexion. She was last seen wearing a white blouse, navy blue jacket under a pink jacket, blue pants and blue shoes. She was also using a black metal cane.

New LAPD Deputy Chief and Commander Promotions Announced

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore is pleased to announce the promotion of Commander Blake Chow as Deputy Chief for the Department's Transit Services Bureau. In this new role Chow will oversee the city's four traffic divisions as well as the safety and security for MTA's bus and rail lines in the city limits. Chow is a 29 year veteran of the Department and has served a number of various roles from Patrol to Risk Management.

Also promoted was Central Area Captain Marc Reina, who will now serve as the Commander for the Department's Central Bureau. Reina has worked hard to build relationships and engage residents in the heart of Los Angeles. Reina has been with the Department for more than 20 years and has spent most of his career in Operations.

Both promotions will be effective in the beginning of March.

Los Angeles: The family of Cathy Antonetta Person and the Los Angeles Police Department's Missing Person's Unit are asking for the public's assistance in locating her.

Person was last seen on December 20th, at 2 p.m., in front of 4100 Wilshire Boulevard in the City of Los Angeles.
Person is described as a 63-year-old, female, black, black hair, brown eyes, standing at 5 feet 9 inches tall, and approximately 160 pounds.

Person was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the letters "LA" printed on the front, grey sweat pants, and grey and black tennis shoes. She is also believed to have walked to the area of 3737 Olympic Boulevard.

Skull Mask Burglary Suspects Wanted

North Hollywood: The Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Burglary detectives are asking the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of burglary suspects responsible for a series of burglaries in North Hollywood Area.

On Monday, November 19, 2018, around 6 p.m., a burglary occurred near the 7700 block of Bel Aire Avenue. Three suspects with one of them wearing a mask gained entrance into the residence and removed a safe. They exited the residence and got into a newer model Nissan Rouge with "Beverly Hills BMW" paper plates, which was driven by the fourth suspect.

Over the course of the past two months, North Hollywood Area has had 26 residential burglaries from October 15, 2018 through December 18, 2018. The burglaries have occurred within the area of Coldwater Canyon Boulevard and Bellaire Avenue, between Roscoe Boulevard and Victory Boulevard.

The suspects are working in crews of 2 to 4 people and they drive vehicles with paper plates. The suspects have targeted single family residences between the hours of 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The suspects select homes with minimal to zero lighting and enter the residence by smashing the rear sliding doors. Once inside, the suspects look for jewelry, cash, designer handbags, and firearms to steal.

First suspect is a male, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs between 160 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a "Skull Face" mask, black hoodie, black jeans, and black shoes.

Second suspect is a male, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs between 160 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, black jeans, and blue running shoes.

Third suspect is a male, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs between 160 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and gray running shoes.

The suspects have also been seen driving a white Kia sedan and a white Cadillac Escalade with paper plates.

Man Shot and Left for Dead NR18320dm

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification of the suspects responsible for killing 42-year-old Sun Valley resident Sergio Mares.

On December 17, 2018, around 5:58 p.m., North Hollywood Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call on Archwood Street and Laurel grove Avenue, at the Valley Plaza Recreational Center. Upon arrival, officers observed a male, in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim had been working on his vehicle when he was approached by two male suspects and shot. The suspects fled north, in a vehicle, on Vanowen Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Mares to a local hospital. He died upon arrival.

The motive for this shooting is unknown. There is no vehicle or suspect description.

Pedestrian was Fatally Struck by Hit and Run Driver NR18319rh

 

West Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a fatal hit and run traffic collision that killed a 39-year-old male resident of Los Angeles.

On December 15, 2018, around 10:15 p.m., a pedestrian was crossing southbound Sunset Boulevard east of Mapleton Drive outside of an unmarked crosswalk. As the pedestrian crossed southbound Sunset Boulevard, he was struck by an unknown vehicle going eastbound on Sunset Boulevard.

The driver of the unknown vehicle failed to stop, identify themselves and render aid at the scene of a traffic collision as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to the victim, who died at scene from his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and notification to next of kin is still pending.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

On December 14, 2018, around 11 p.m., Mr. Kim was found in the Devonshire area by patrol officers and was reunited with his family in good health.

 

 

 

Sherman Oaks: The family of James Kim and the Los Angeles Police Department's Missing Persons Unit are asking for the public's help in locating him.

James was last seen on December 14, 2018, around 12:20 p.m., leaving Sherman Oaks Hospital in the 4900 block of Van Nuys Boulevard. He currently resides in the 14000 block of Hubbard Street, in the city of Sylmar, and may be trying to find his way home. James does not have a cellphone or wallet, but was wearing a hospital bracelet with his information when he left the hospital. He suffers from Alzheimer's and his family is concerned for his safety.

James is described as an 84-year-old Korean male with gray hair and brown eyes. He stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs approximately 121 pounds. James was last seen wearing a light grey, long sleeve, hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, and was wearing only hospital issued beige socks without shoes.

Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's South Traffic Division are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification of the suspect involved in a hit and run collision that killed a bicyclist.

On December 14, 2018, around 5:15 a.m., a tractor trailer vehicle was traveling west on Anaheim Street at Sampson Avenue. A bicyclist was traveling south across the westbound lanes of Anaheim Street when he collided with the right rear side of the trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer vehicle failed to stop and render aid, as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the bicyclist dead at scene.

There is no suspect description. The tractor portion of the vehicle is light in color. The trailer is dark brown.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. Street Racing Felony Hit and Run

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department's South Traffic Division are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification of the suspect involved in a hit and run traffic collision which left two 9-year-old girls severely injured.

On December 9, 2018, around 8:55 p.m., the victim was turning south onto Hoover Street from westbound Florence Avenue when she was struck by a black Chevy Camaro that was racing a black Ford Mustang. Both vehicles were racing at a high rate of speed at the time of the collision. After the collision, the driver of the black Ford Mustang fled the scene without providing aid or identifying themselves, as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire paramedics responded and transported a 24-year-old female, two 9-year-old girls, and the driver of the racing Camaro, a 39-year-old male, to local hospitals with severe injuries.

The suspect's vehicle is a two door Black Ford Mustang with black rims, black rear wing spoiler, and possible light or tan interior.

Man Murdered Under Local Freeway Overpass

Devonshire: The Los Angeles Police Department and Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of a 24-year-old male.

On November 24, 2018, around 6:50 a.m., Devonshire patrol officers responded to a radio call of a "Shooting Just Occurred" in the area of Plummer Street under the 405-Freeway overpass. When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old male Hispanic suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was found inside his tent.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set male Hispanic, who exited a silver or gray sedan, opened the tent and shot the victim several times. The suspect re-entered the vehicle and fled west on Plummer Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene.

The motive of the shooting is not known and under investigation. The victim's name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
