Masked Gang Members Arrested for Burglarizing Home in Encino

Encino: Over the past several months, the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Area Burglary Detectives and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Officials have been diligently working as a team to curb the burglary problem that plagues the Encino and Tarzana areas of Los Angeles.

On February 15, 2019, Parole Agent Jason Cagnollati was monitoring the activity of Maurice Lavell Bull, a South Los Angeles resident and documented gang member on parole for burglary. At about 8:00 p.m., Cagnollati noticed that Bull’s ankle monitor showed him stopped in the 3700 block of Caribeth Drive. Due to his familiarity with Bull’s criminal background as a prolific burglar and the high number of burglaries reported in that area of Encino, Cagnollati called Detective William Dunn, West Valley Burglary Unit, to assist in monitoring Bull’s activity.

Dunn subsequently solicited the help from West Valley Division patrol personnel and had uniformed officers respond to Caribeth Drive. As the officers arrived in the 3600 block of Caribeth Drive, they immediately observed two masked suspects loading bags and boxes into a white BMW parked on Caribeth Drive. A foot pursuit ensued, and the first suspect captured was Anthony Parker, a Roland Heights resident and associate of Bull. As the officers detained Parker, they discovered that he was armed with a fully loaded semi-automatic handgun which was rendered safe and held as evidence. Thereafter, a perimeter was quickly established for the second masked suspect that ran from the scene.

With the assistance of Parole Agent Cagnollati, Topanga Division patrol personnel, Air Support Division and Metropolitan Division K-9 Units, Bull was successfully apprehended a few blocks away from the crime scene.

The victims came home as the investigation took place and identified the items carried by both Bull and Parker as their personal property valued at $59,000 dollars. Officers returned the stolen items to the victims who subsequently provided surveillance video of Bull and Parker exiting their ransacked home.
