Los Angeles Dodgers 2019 Opening Day NR19066cr

Los Angeles:  On Thursday, March 28, 2019, the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team will play their first home game of the season.  In an effort to assist the public in avoiding possible traffic congestion and parking delays, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is informing the public of the temporary “Tow-Away, No Parking” parking restriction near Dodger Stadium.  Please make sure that you observe all parking signage as the following locations will be strictly enforced between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.;  

* Avenue of the Palms (Stadium Way) between Scott Road and Academy Road

* Academy Road between Morton Avenue and Stadium Way

* Scott Avenue between Boylston Street and Elysian Park Drive

In addition to parking enforcement, LAPD officers will be patrolling the area to enforce the no tolerance policy for drinking in public or in the parks.  Dodger fans are also reminded that there is no tailgating in the parking lots of Dodger Stadium.    

If you plan on attending the game and buying tickets near the stadium, be aware of ticket scalpers who may sell you fraudulent tickets.  There is often little recourse once you arrive and attempt to gain access to the game.  There will be undercover officers in the area enforcing illegal ticket scalping in the hours leading up to the game.   

Everyone in attendance on opening day deserves a safe and fun-filled day of baseball, so please respect the neighborhood and stay safe.  Let’s Play Ball!

Los Angeles: The family of Yao Lu and detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Missing Person's Unit are asking for the public's help in locating him.

Mr. Lu was last seen on March 18, 2019, in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue in the City of Los Angeles.

Mr. Lu is described as a 26-year-old Asian male with black hair and black eyes. He stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue striped suit and is possibly driving a green 95 BMW X5 License plate BMWE70.

Rosalinda was last seen on March 23, 2019, in the 3800 block of Westside Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. She suffers from a medical condition and in need of medication, which she does not have in her possession.

Rosalinda is described as a 47-year-old female Hispanic with brown hair and brown eyes. She stands 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 125 pounds.

Los Angeles: The family of Katherine Jones and detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Missing Person's Unit are asking for the public's help in locating her.

Katherine was last seen on March 25, 2019, in the 3800 block of Westside Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. She suffers from a medical condition and in need of medication, which she does not have in her possession.

Katherine is described as a 34-year-old female Black with brown hair and brown eyes. She stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 250 pounds. There is no clothing description.

Koreatown: The Los Angeles Police Department's West Bureau Homicide Detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting of a 31- year old male Hispanic.
On March 22, 2019, around 3:50 p.m., Olympic Area uniformed patrol officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 400 block of Normandie Avenue. When officers arrived they found a male adult victim who had suffered gunshot wounds.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to local hospital where he was taken into surgery with life threatening injuries.

The suspects were described as two males in a black four door sedan that left southbound on Normandie Avenue.

The area the victim was lured to is described as an emergency exit "stairwell." The suspect has been seen in Santa Monica and may frequent the Compton area.

 

East Hollywood: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Area are asking for the public's help in providing any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect who sexually assaulted a victim.

On March14, 2019, around 6 p.m., in the 1500 block of North Vermont, the victim asked the suspect for directions. The suspect then lured the victim into a secluded, emergency exit-room at the Metro Red-Line Station. The suspect strangled, punched and raped the victim. The suspect is a transient who frequents the Metro Stations from Compton to Santa Monica Stations.

The suspect is described as a male Black, brown eyes, stands between 5 feet and 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs about 165 pounds to 180 pounds, shaved head, wears an earring on his right ear, has a 2- inch to 3- inch scar on his left forearm, wearing all dark clothing.

Detectives Seeking Additional Victims of a Sexual Predator NR19073ti

Los Angeles: On February 14, 2019, Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Area Detectives arrested 56-year-old Felipe Ceja Bautista for multiple sexual assault related offenses.

Felipe began his criminal career as a child molester in 1991 while living in Pacoima. He victimized children from multiple families starting in 1991 and continued possibly through 2018.

After the first victim came forward, an extensive investigation began which lead to Felipe being arrested and charged with lewd acts on a child, rape, and continuous sexual abuse on a child. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office is handling the prosecution.

Los Angeles: Southern Californians once again awoke to the disturbing news of a terrorist attack, this time in Utrecht, Netherlands. The Los Angeles Police Department continues to communicate with fellow law enforcement partners both domestically and over-seas. At this time, there is no nexus to Los Angeles. However, we are working with the Metropolitan Transit Authority as well as other local agencies to ensure our commuting public is safe and secure. Out of an abundance of caution, the Department will have a very visible presence throughout the transit system. Today's violence is a sobering reminder once again. LAPD Statement on New Zealand Mass Shooting

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department continues to monitor the events in New Zealand closely and the thoughts and prayers of the men and women of the LAPD go out to everyone affected by this horrific incident.

While this appears to be an isolated incident with no apparent threat to Los Angeles, out of an abundance of caution we will be adding patrols around mosques here in the city. It is critically important that anytime anyone observes concerning behavior or potential criminal acts, they notify authorities as soon as possible.

The LAPD ask the public to stay vigilant and be aware of your surroundings. As always, the LAPD is committed to keeping all our citizens safe.

Bicyclist Shot and Left for Dead NR19061jl

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department West Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects responsible for fatally shooting 22-year-old Steven Lopez.

On March 18, 2018, around 10:00 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Wilshire Area patrol officers received a radio call of "Shots Fired" in the 4700 block of West 17th Street. Upon arrival, they observed a female cradling a male (later identified as Steven Lopez) in her arms. Lopez was unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Lopez dead at scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Lopez was riding his bicycle when two males approached him on foot and fired multiple shots. Lopez collapsed on the sidewalk. The Suspects fled eastbound on foot from the location.

The Los Angeles City Council has approved a reward of $50,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for this crime.
