Dodger Stadium Assault Update NR19097ml

Los Angeles: Robbery Homicide Detectives provide an update on the investigation of the assault that occurred in the parking lot of the Dodgers Stadium.

On March 29, 2019 between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., Mr. Rafael Reyes, 45 years of age, was in Parking Lot 3, presumably walking to his car near the end of the game. While in the parking lot, Mr. Reyes became involved in an argument with a young man and a young woman.

The dispute escalated, ultimately ending when the young man struck Mr. Reyes with a single punch. Mr. Reyes fell to the ground landing on his buttocks, fell backwards and struck his head on the pavement, sustaining significant head trauma.

An individual who witnessed the incident, came to Mr. Reyes' aide and summoned emergency medical services for him. Mr. Reyes was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.

Robbery-Homicide Division detectives have been examining countless hours of video surveillance footage from Dodgers Stadium in an effort to identify the young man and woman involved in this incident. To this point, we have only been able to identify those individuals based on a witness' description.

The suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, in his mid-twenties, approximately 5'8" tall, weighing about 150 lbs., clean shaven, wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a Dodgers baseball cap.

The young woman is a female, Hispanic, also in her twenties, approximately 5'4", weighing about 110 lbs, with long black hair, wearing a white Dodgers jersey, and blue jeans shorts.

The Department had previously released information related to a possible suspect vehicle, it was described as a white SUV. We have since located that vehicle and identified the individuals associated with it, and determined that they were not involved in this incident.

As we continue our investigation, we cannot express enough that we believe there are additional witnesses to this incident and individuals who are aware of the identity of the young man and woman involved in the altercation and would request that they contact Robbery-Homicide Division investigators at (213) 486-6890.
