Arrest Made in Local College Student's Murder
July 02, 2019
Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department detectives assigned to Robbery-Homicide Division have made an arrest for the March 10, 2019 murder of a local college student, Victor McElhaney.
On Sunday, March 10, 2019, Victor McElhaney was out with his friends when a group of Hispanic males attempted to rob them in the area of Adams Boulevard and Maple Avenue. During the commission of the attempted robbery, one of the suspects shot and killed McElhaney. The suspects fled in a vehicle to an unknown location.
During the course of the investigation, Robbery-Homicide Division assumed primary investigative responsibility for the case. Based on evidence and witness statements, Robbery-Homicide Detectives identified Ivan Hernandez as the one of the individuals responsible for murdering Victor McElhaney. On June 28, 2019, Robbery-Homicide Division, in conjunction with Newton Area Gang Enforcement Detail and Gangs and Narcotics Division, arrested Ivan Hernandez for 187 PC, Murder.
On July 2, 2019, detectives presented this case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Major Crimes Section. Deputy District Attorney filed one (1) count 187 PC, Murder and (1) count, 664/211 PC, Attempted Robbery. Additionally, the Deputy District Attorney filed 186.22(b)(1)(C), Gang Allegation and 12022.53(d), Firearm Allegation.
I LOVE it when the LAPD and Sheriff's departments be catching these domestic terrorists and bullies that call themselves gang members.
The Newton area is bad that's why they call it "Shootin Newton." I wouldn't want to be a street cop in the Newton area even if the LAPD gave me a $1 million/per year salary.
I remember reading about this story on LAPD.com and being disgusted by another gang set messing with an innocent person.
Ivan Hernandez (one of the suspects) and his homeboys humiliated the victim by trying to rob him, and THEN if that humiliation wasn't enough this Hernandez and/or one of homies decided to kill the victim.
If this Hernandez dude or one of his homeboys pulled the trigger, I hope the District Attorney, the judge, and the prosecutor throw the book at Hernandez and investigate the gang set he was from.
