LAPD Mission Division Cadets Receiving Scholarships

Mission Hills: The Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Area established the Cadet Program in 2005. It is a community-based crime prevention program that aims to empower youth, ages 13 to 17 years old. The program maximizes their personal and scholastic potential through the emphasis of the program's four cornerstones:

• Leadership
• Academic Excellence
• Ethical and Wise Decision Making
• Community Stewardship

On August 13, 2019, at 5:00 p.m., 10 retired Mission Area cadets will be presented with scholarships. The event will be held at the Mission Community Police Station, located at 11121 Sepulveda Boulevard in Mission Hills. These cadets have volunteered countless hours within our community. They have participated in the National Night Out, maintained their GPA's in school, have represented the Mission Cadet Program in "presenting colors" at various community events, and have demonstrated their athleticism in running the Los Angeles Marathon.

Mission Community Police Council has generously sponsored the scholarships to help our 10 retired cadets continue with their college education.

Mission Area would like to thank the retired Cadets and their parents for all the hard work and commitment to The Mission Area Cadet Program.
