POLICE COMMISSIONER EILEEN M. DECKER
ELECTED POLICE COMMISSION PRESIDENT,
POLICE COMMISSIONER SHANE MURPHY GOLDSMITH
ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT
Los Angeles – On August 20, 2019, the members of the Los Angeles Police Commission held elections and unanimously elected Eileen M. Decker to serve as the new President, and Shane Murphy Goldsmith to the Vice President post. The five members of the Police Commission are Eileen M. Decker, Shane Murphy Goldsmith, Dale Bonner, Sandra Figueroa-Villa and Steve Soboroff.
Upon being elected to the President post, Commissioner Decker stated, “I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead for this Commission and the women and men of the LAPD.”
“Together we must continue to build trust with the diverse communities that we serve in order that we can provide public safety through building partnerships”. Vice President Goldsmith stated, “I am eager to assist President Decker in providing the necessary leadership to build upon the past successes of both the Commission and Department to move us forward”.
After researching the Police Commission files this appears to be the first time that both the President and Vice President of the Police Commission are women. Upon learning of that Commissioner Decker stated, “This is consistent with one of my goals, which is to work with the Department to increase the representation of women and minorities in the police officer recruit classes.”
