DUI Traffic Collision Results in Double Fatality NR19314ml

Winnetka: The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division detectives are investigating a double fatality that occurred on Parthenia Street just west of Sunny Brae Avenue.

On Sunday, November 17, 2019, around 12:55 a.m., a 2007 Chevy truck with three occupants was travelling westbound Parthenia Street just west of Sunny Brae Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The Chevy truck drove into oncoming traffic, lost control, and struck two vehicles that were parked on Parthenia street along the south curb. The Chevy truck then continued in a northwest direction and overturned, causing all three occupants to be trapped inside the truck.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced both male passengers, a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old dead.

The name of the deceased will not be released until next-of-kin have been notified.

The driver of the Chevy truck was driving under the influence, he suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

He has been identified as Pablo Roman Trujillo Carrasco, 20 years of age. He was subsequently arrested and booked for 187(A) PC-Murder and is being held at Van Nuys Jail with bail set at $4,000,000.00.

Drivers are reminded to drive at a safe speed, wear your seatbelt, and don't drink and drive. Speed kills, reckless driving, and drunk driving will not be tolerated in the City of Los Angeles.

Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR19312ml

Panorama City: The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division detectives are investigating a felony hit and run fatality that occurred on Nordhoff Street east of Tobias Avenue.

On Saturday, November 16, 2019, around 5:35 a.m., a dark colored vehicle was traveling eastbound Nordhoff Street at Tobias Avenue when it hit a pedestrian. The female pedestrian was walking southbound Tobias Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk when she was hit. Other passing vehicles also possibly collided with the pedestrian while she was on the roadway. None of the vehicles stopped or rendered aid to the pedestrian on the roadway. A good Samaritan driver going eastbound on Nordhoff Street did stop and called emergency dispatch to report the collision.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead. She has been identified as Juana De Jesus Rodriguez, she was 69 years old and a resident of Panorama City.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
