Fatal Hit and Run

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

 

Los Angeles:  Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for the Hit and Run traffic collision that killed a male bicyclist.     

On November 18, 2020, around 9:15 p.m., a bicyclist was travelling north on Main Street just north of 120th Street.  A dark colored sedan, also travelling north on Main Street, collided with the bicyclist and fled north on Main Street without stopping or rendering aid to the bicyclist as required by law.  

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the bicyclist to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The identity of the bicyclist is not being released until next of kin is notified.  

Drivers are reminded to drive at a safe speed and if you become involved in a collision, you should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify yourself.

Regional Crime Stoppers as their local program.
